All our furnitures are made with solid wood (or hardwood) except for those structural parts that require mechanical guarantees or less weight. These are made of blockboards, honeycomb panel, veneered. The wood essences used are Lime, Cherry, Ash, Oak. The inlays are made of Cherry, Walnut, Maple, Oak and Linden.
The hardwood, named also solid wood is a wood piece obtained exclusively from the log cut without adding other materials. It’s recognized by the vein which must be the same on both sides of the table and that in the horizontal cut must follow the trunk circle.
For centuries the furnitures were only wood made. Because wood is a live and splendid material, highly workable. Our choice on use only wood means quality, substance and durability over time. The warmth that a piece of furniture in such a natural and precious material can give to the house has no comparison.
Wood is a natural material and must be treated with care and attention. Clean the surfaces using only a soft woolen cloth or in alternative a damp cotton cloth.
Do not use cleaners containing acids, alcohol, aggressive or abrasive substances. Even some commercially specific products for wood can create indelible halos. Between notches and fretworks sometimes remains very thin dust which is difficult to remove. Try using a brush with soft bristles with which even go in the most strenuous points to reach, if you spray the bristles with a product that attracts dust, not even a grain will remain.
The lumber choice is the first important step in the path towards quality. We entrust it only to experts who follow with passion and knowledge every phase from seasoning to processing. We use only the "heartwood" that is the inner part of the trunk, what is called "the heart". A value and a choice that means quality and durability over time.
Any movements, shadows and small cracks are natural effects of the time on the wood. Such peculiarities are the authentic signs of a living furniture.
Periodically apply beeswax, a completely natural product, its pleasant honey scent is unmistakable. It’s been recommended for centuries for the care of furniture as it has the prerogative to deeply nourish the wood. A special and due attention to create and maintain over the years a protective coating that in addition of preserving the surfaces promotes and enhances the natural beauty of your furniture. Remind that a furnishing wax-polished easily loses its luster because the wax for rubbing, time, etc, it consumes, so you should occasionally a reinvigoration for the furniture with another polishing. The wax should be spread evenly with a soft woolen cloth. Let dry a few minutes and then polish with a dry woolen cloth preferably warm. If you keep the wax in a cold place, bring it to room temperature before using it. It will be softer and easier to spread.
Being a living material, wood is sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity that may cause small movements such as a slight increase in the all-natural volume. The important thing to keep it beautiful over time is not to expose it to strong and sudden variations in temperature, such as placing objects that emit heat directly on the surfaces or exposing it continuously and directly to sunlight, placing it in contact with a heat source or in an environment very humid.
If the scratch is not too deep on the surface just use a marker suitable for retouching, on sale in DIY stores. Roll out the color in the direction of the wood vein and smooth it with a finger, before it dries. Evaluate if a first pass is sufficient to mask the scratch, if necessary repeat a second time. If instead the dent is deeper, use soft stucco, there are plenty of colors. Fill the hollow, let the putty dry and then wipe with natural beeswax to restore shine to the repaired part.
To maintain good sliding of the drawers, these must be rubbed periodically along the sides or on the rails with solid paraffin (even a white candle is fine) it is a natural material which has the property of sliding wood against wood with great fluidity. If the drawer struggles to slide, after removing it, verify that there are no foreign bodies on the sliding rails.
Carving is the technique of sculpturing wood with special tools for decorative purposes. It can be in relief and made with chisels, or hollowed out and obtained with gouges. The inlay instead is a type of decoration obtained by digging a wooden surface and inserting a different color essence (inlay) to form decorative motifs.
